Wouter Nieuwenhuize - Osteopaat io

My name is Wouter Nieuwenhuize, a third-year osteopathy student at the THIM University of Applied Sciences for Osteopathy. Within my training, I combine my background in physiotherapy with a broad interest in movement, sports, and the human body. Sport and physical activity have always played a central role in my life; I have practiced judo and hockey, train regularly in the gym, and can often be found on the golf course.

During my physiotherapy education, I realised that complaints and movement restrictions rarely exist in isolation. That insight led me to osteopathy. What appeals to me most is its holistic approach: the body is viewed as one interconnected system in which muscles, joints, connective tissue, organs, and the nervous system continuously influence each other. A restriction in one area can affect function elsewhere in the body.

My main interest lies in the practical application of osteopathy in daily life, work-related complaints, and sports or hobbies. I believe osteopathic care should not only focus on treatment, but also on providing insight and practical advice that supports movement and resilience in everyday functioning. During my internship at Amsterdam Osteo Osteopathie in Amsterdam, I look forward to gaining clinical experience, learning within the treatment process, and further deepening my passion for osteopathy.
